Steve Carlson

Steve Carlson serves as Chief Communications Officer at Altus CXO, where he provides strategic communications counsel and support to clients. He works closely with organizations and executive leaders to develop and execute effective communications strategies, strengthen stakeholder engagement, manage reputation, and navigate complex business challenges.

An award-winning communications professional with nearly 40 years of experience, Steve brings extensive expertise in corporate communications, media relations, executive communications, issues management, crisis communications, and internal communications. Known for his strategic mindset and collaborative leadership style, he has successfully guided organizations through high-profile initiatives while helping leaders communicate with clarity and confidence.

Throughout his career, Steve has held senior communications leadership positions with major organizations in the banking, insurance, energy, and media industries, including Wells Fargo, where he advised executive leaders and led strategic communications initiatives across multiple business lines.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in news-editorial journalism from the University of Illinois. He has received numerous honors recognizing excellence in communications and public relations and remains actively involved in community service and nonprofit leadership initiatives.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, staying active through fitness and outdoor activities, and giving back to the community through volunteer service.
