Matt Arnold helps organizations chart a clear path through complexity. As Chief Innovation Officer at Altus, he partners with leadership teams to translate vision into strategy, connect innovation to measurable outcomes, and build systems that sustain growth.

With more than 25 years of experience in innovation, brand strategy, and human-centered design, Matt is known for turning ambiguity into alignment. He integrates design thinking, systems thinking, and organizational sensemaking to help leaders make informed decisions and move their organizations forward with purpose.

Matt has advised Fortune 100 corporations, global nonprofits, research universities, and emerging innovators across industries including education, healthcare, energy, financial services, and technology. His work spans enterprise innovation programs, large-scale transformation initiatives, and frameworks that connect emerging technologies to sustainability and impact.

In addition to his role at Altus, Matt serves as Sensemaker in Residence for The Sensemakers Club, a global forum focused on collaborative sensemaking. Through this work, he explores how organizations can strengthen their collective intelligence and capacity to collaborate at scale when addressing complex challenges.

An experienced facilitator and speaker, Matt shares insights on innovation strategy, foresight, and design-led change at national and global conferences. He holds a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa and an MS in Communication from Illinois State University, along with advanced certifications in foresight, AI, design, and strategy.

Based in Iowa City, Matt is deeply engaged in his community—serving on nonprofit boards, mentoring entrepreneurs, and cycling Iowa’s gravel roads whenever he can.
